At Gemini Youth...
...we believe that music is one of the most eloquent expressions of our common humanity and that developing this expression in our children is not only engaging and exciting, but can also provide the fundamental building blocks for a successful and rewarding life, both in and out of the arts!
Gemini Youth musicians have the opportunity to work with internationally acclaimed conductors, composers, and coaches in a positive community environment that fosters creativity and leadership. Gemini is actually the only Long Island youth orchestra society directed by a full-time professional conductor! The GYO continually performs in such prestigious NYC venues as the Lincoln Center and Symphony Space, in addition to LI venues including the Tilles Center, the John Adams Playhouse (Hofstra Univ.), and the newly engineered Concert Hall at the Adelphi Performing Arts Center.
In addition to first-rate ensemble music-making, Gemini musicians experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to travel and perform abroad! The GYO 2011 Summer Tour included performances in Paris, Turnhout, and Amsterdam, as well as exciting tours of Bruges and Antwerp, plus as an inside look at European culture and customs.

Music for all ensembles is now up, including our Senior Send-Off selection to be performed by a combined Concert Winds and Symphony.
Senior Send-Off rehearsals are May 16th and May 31st at 6:45-7:15pm.
The Senior Questionnaire is due via e-mail or in-person at rehearsal by no later than Monday, May 2nd. You may download the questionnaire by clicking here.

Congratulations to the winners of our Concerto Competition! In addition to the first prize performances with orchestra at Concert III, there is a winners recital featuring all first, second and third place recipients on Thursday, May 19th at Faust Harrison Pianos. Our sincerest thanks to Faust Harrison Pianos, the Long Island Violin Shop, and Five Towns College for their generous contributions in ensuring the success of this event.
Violin 2 musicians in GSO: If you are interested in applying for Violin 1 in GSO for next year, please visit the String Orchestra link under "Musicians Only" to download the excerpt and receive the audition directions.
Violin 2 musicians in GRO: If you wish to be considered for Violin 1, please speak directly with Dr. Perea about your interest in applying for a section change.

Winds and Brass- June 6th
Auditions are only required for new applicants and current members who wish to be considered for a new ensemble. Violin 2's who are interested in Violin 1 for their current ensemble should e-mail the Director for more information.
